Here are some fun times and things for March and part of April 2017
Simon practicing guitar. Not only is he still playing trumpet in band he is also taking guitar lessons outside of school. I can't believe how old and grown up he looks!
Tim and I went to a great restaurant called Loflin Yard. It's more of a hang out spot than a restaurant. It's basically set up to feel like you are just hanging out in a back yard with games, fire pits, picnic tables, live music. Really a cool concept.
I can't remember the name of this game. It's where there is a hook on the pole and then the string with a ring you try and swing it to catch the hook. I got it twice in just a few tries! whoo hoo :) Tim couldn't get it LOL
Movie night. Nixon and I went to Batman Lego movie while Tim, Simon and Paige went to the new Wolverine movie.
A friend of ours, Alex, who lives in Seattle was here for business and met up with us for dinner one night. It was a great to see him. We actually met him 21 years ago when he was still in the Coast Guard, we were stationed in Michigan together. It was fun to catch up with him since it's been quit a few years since we were in Seattle!
One of the many Memphis Murals.
St. Patrick's Day
Found a great restaurant called the Majestic, It's an old converted movie theater. They play black and white classic movies while you eat. Actually Alex told us about it from one of his previous business trips here.
They just keep growing up! Our girl filing out her first job applications.
It's that time of year again. Study for service wide (once a year test for advancement). Tim and I have been going to the local library on Fridays and I read a book while he studies.
Back to the Majestic for Sunday brunch. They show classic cartoons on the weekends!
Spring Break 2017
Tim only had Thursday and Friday off so we decided to get out and see somethings in the area we hadn't seen or done yet!
We went Strawberry Picking for the first time ever and had a blast!
It's a local farm called Jones Orchard
We got lots!
The "Fruit of our labor"
We went to an NBA game!
This was mine (Angie's) and the kids' first time at an NBA game.
Memphis Grizzlies and the Indiana Pacers
I think this is inside the Gibson Guitar Factory. It is right by the Fedex Forum
A day at the Memphis Zoo
Nixon pet the Sting Rays
I just can't believe how grown up they are!
It was funny, in this section I told Tim I felt at home in this section it reminds me of WA and AK. Tim told me that that is because we were in the section called Northwest Passage! I missed the sign LOL
Can't pass up a cut out picture spot!
Well, truth be told we did pass up a spider one! Nope Momma doesn't do spiders!
We had a great day at the zoo with perfect weather!
A Few Special Days
Went to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate Paige! She won an all expenses paid week trip to Washington D.C. this summer. She will be part of the Youth Tour and will go with about 2000 other Juniors from around the country. 10 kids from Southwest TN were chosen from 10 different schools. She won for a short story she wrote for the competition and took first place for her school!
Paige had a great week! She found out she won the trip on Monday, got her ACT score back and did great and better than she thought, then registered for her Senior classes for next year and got a better options than she thought she would get. She will have a heavy load next year, 2 AP classes and a college dual enrolled on top of other classes. She is hoping to knock out 3 college classes by doing that.
Hanging out at Loflin Yard for a night out.
Hope this finds you all doing well and I will post again soon!
