This week the kids had a blast at Vacation Bible School at The Covenant Church here in town. Paige's kindergarten teacher's husband is the Pastor there. Simon was just under the age that it started at but they only had a couple kids in his class the first day so they offered to let him go too. It worked out that Paige's class was taught by Mrs. McRostie (her kindergarten teacher) so she was very comfortable right from the start. Not to mention 4 of the kids were from her class at school. Then one day afterwards some of us took the kids to a park here in town for lunch which was fun. So, Nixon and I had a couple hours each day just the two of us. I got my floors mopped and two of my bathrooms completely cleaned!!! As I am writing this it is Saturday and we went down to Ferndale, a little Victorian town just south of us, for their farmers market. When we got there we discovered there were only 2 booths selling things and then two girls with a box of free kittens. Needless to say Paige really liked the kittens. I have to admit they were cute and tempting. I told Paige if something ever happens to Macey (our psycho cat as we call her) she can pick out a new cat. We decided to walk through some of the cute little shops in Ferndale. There was one that was set up like an old time store. It was so cool it even had an upstairs with a museum set up with all the different types of shops you would find a hundred years ago. Then we came back to Eureka to the library to watch a marionette puppet show. The weather has been awesome here so we have enjoyed being outside all week! I already need a new bottle of sunblock! Simon doesn't like it on his face he says EWWWW not the face stuff please not the face stuff! Well there is still more sun to be soaked up and enjoyed so off to play we go.
Welcome
Here you will find all kinds of snippets of our lives. Team Crothers are followers of Jesus and strive daily to emulate this.

What am I drinking?
Today at lunch I had juice.... What was in that juice? 2 celery stalks, hand full of spinach, 3 strawberries, 1 1/2 apples, half a peach, 1 carrot and a handful of grapes. Paige looked at it and went EWWWW that looks gross! I have to admit it did. It was mostly orange and green swirled together. Why you ask would I drink such a concoction? We are now the proud owners of a juicer! We haven't received the recipe book yet that we ordered so I just decided to throw a bunch of stuff in. Why not! At least I am getting vitamins and minerals. We are trying to make some healthy changes in our life and this is something we have started with. So far we have used it everyday which is good, we are sticking to it. It's easy to use which is nice. It was Tim's idea to get one which is exciting to me because he is the one throwing lots of veggies in when he makes his juice. And those who know Tim he isn't much for veggies especially green ones! He's even the one who bought the spinach, parsley and celery to go in the juice. Well little man Nixon just woke up so I better run!

Fun filled visit
Our best friends the Schwindt's came to visit for 3 nights. We had such a great time and squeezed in a bunch of fun things. Jake and Savannah are the same age as Paige and Simon and they have all been playing together since the days they were born. Can you say toys toys all over! It was so great for them they had non stop fun.
The Budweiser Clydesdale horses were in town so of course we had to go see them. Paige loves horses you know. They were incredibly huge, I knew they were big but standing right next to them WOW they are way up there!

We also went up to Fort Humbolt where they have a steam train you can ride on. Jake is very into trains. Luckily it was the one weekend this month that they ran it so before they left town we got to take a ride.
It was so cute to watch the kids interact. The big kids would play and the littler kids would play, then the boys and the girls, then all of them. Next year Nixon will be running with them! Us adults of course had a wonderful time together too! Angie (Doug's wife) and I were talking and realized that Tim and Doug met when they were Paige and Jake's age. Cool to think about. Now that's what you call a life long friend! They both married Angela's too!

Family Camp

We spent 4th of July weekend (Friday - Tuesday) at our church's family camp and boy was it a blast. We had such a great time. The kids absolutely loved every minute of it as did Tim and I. The speaker was awesome. He is the Pastor of the Petaluma, CA church and come to find out him and his wife are from the Pacific Northwest and huge Mariners fans. We even reminisced about when Mt. St Helens blew back in 1980.
Paige is so grown up now she would take one of our walkie talkies and go take Simon to
the play ground and give us updates that they were ok, or of course let us know Simon wouldn't do what she wanted. We weren't that far away but it was nice to be assured they were ok. Simon spent a good amount of time at the basket ball court practicing dribbling which he mastered. The kids played non stop with all their friends from church. Tim and I enjoyed time together and the fellowship with the other families from our church. Every night at 9 or so they brought out hot chocolate and homemade cookies to eat around the fire.
Nixon, I have to say did awesome. He didn't miss a beat in his routine if it was time to sleep he crashed where ever he was, in the chair at the river, in the stroller bouncing all over, parked by the fire. He slept all night through every night.
We spent some time in the water each day and Tim even jumped off a cliff into the deep part. Paige and Tim l
ove water they are my swimmers. Simon had fun in the water too but also enjoyed playing in the rocks and sand on the shore. I took a couple dips but hung out mostly on shore with Nixon. Everyone was amazed by Paige, she caught so many snakes and frogs. Yes I said snakes, you know those garter snakes? Definitely doesn't take after me. Paige is such a timid petite little thing everyone one was surprised at how she loves snakes, frogs and bugs. You should see her at home we have a collection of snails at all times in a bug catcher by our door. Well I will conclude this entry for now... Family camp was a great time had by all!

Our Kiddies
Here is an update on our 3 wonderful children!!!
Paige...
Is now 6 years old and she just finished kindergarten. I can't believe how grown up my little girl is and now with her littlest brother here she seems that much older. She has lost 3 teeth so far and has two more "wiggly teeth" as she calls it. She is currently missing one of her top middle teeth and it looks so cute. She is a big help with Simon and Nixon. She and Simon play great together, they really are best friends and she loves to sit and sing and talk to Nixon. She can always get a big smile from him.
Simon...
Is now 3 1/2 years old. He just finished his first year of pre-school and loves it. He is all boy. There really is a difference between boys and girls. He is such a good boy. He is my cuddle bug and will just walk up and tell me he loves me for no reason. He really loves his big sister and his little brother. He loves race cars and he just learned to dribble a basket ball which he is really proud of. He also just learned to ride his bike with training wheels. He is growing up fast like his sissy.
Nixon...
Is growing growing growing. He now weighs 13 pounds and as I write this just turned 11 weeks today. He is such a good baby. He was a bit fussy for the first month or so but that has passed and he is doing wonderful. He already sleeps 8 or more hours at night. He is happy and content. He is full of smiles and is really trying to giggle. He gets a few uh huh uh huhs out and then just smiles. It won't be long before we get a good belly laugh. He loves looking at his brother and sister and Mommy and Daddy of course!
