This will be a Proud Parents of Paige Post!
Paige has had a lot going on lately so I thought I will just put it all in one post!
She has really put herself out there lately and is now reaping the rewards of it.
Honors Night at Brighton High School
Honor Roll
On a separate night Paige was inducted into the National Honor Society
Good job Paige! We are so proud of you. She was recommended by teachers for NHS. Then had to apply and be accepted.
I don't have a picture but she applied to be on Student Council for next year and was accepted for that also. So she will have a busy but fun year next year. You did it Paige! You put yourself out there and are getting involved! We know it's so hard as a military kid to constantly move and have to start over in all areas, especially the older you get. You are doing a wonderful job!
Our Baby turned 17! I just can not believe she is 17, drives and graduates next year. Paige we love you so much and are so proud of the young woman you are!
She made her coconut cake again this year like last year. This time she did two layers and a homemade coconut frosting. It was delicious!
Dad helping her fill out her first job application! She applied at the local movie theater.
Just finished her first job interview! She drove and I waited in the car for moral support! :)
She said it went well and they will contact her when they are done interviewing people. Now the waiting game.
This is at the orientation dinner at Union University in Jackson TN for her Washington Youth Tour she goes on in June.
About this up coming trip to Washington DC. Paige won it through a writing contest for Southwest Tennessee Electric. This is an incredible and amazing once in a lifetime opportunity. They have been doing this for over 50 years and is so well organized and put together. They told us not to pay a penny. They cover everything. They give them visa cards for food and even said if their shoe breaks or pants rip we will buy them new ones. They do not want a penny from the families. It will be very busy and I am sure she will be exhausted when she gets home but it will be so well worth it. They will be up at like 5am and on the go until 11pm. You couldn't even buy a tour package or trip to see all that she will get to see and experience. She will be gone a week. They will start here and take a charter bus over to Nashville and stay the night there and then start picking kids up from around the state and head up to Washington DC. Here is the list of all she will get to see and experience:
Dave and Busters in Nashville. Then up in DC area, Monticello, Quantico and the National Museum of the Marine Corp., Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Korean Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, MLK Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, WWII Memorial, and the Whitehouse. All the Smithsonian Museums, Air and Space, National Gallery of Art, NGA Sculpture Garden, Natural History Museum, American History Museum and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Potomac Boat Cruise, Arlington National Cemetery where they get to take part in the laying of the wreath at the tomb of the Unknowns. Iwo Jima Memorial, Mt. Vernon, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, National Cathedral. Capital Hill where they will meet with their Representatives. The kicker for me (Angela)..... Opening Night of the Sound Of Music at the Kennedy Center! Oh my I so wish she could just sneak me in her suitcase! I am so excited for her. Besides all those places she gets to tour they have stuff planned for them like game night and a dance and convention style time. Then once they are all tired and worn out they fly them home! I have to say I am so impressed with this company and how they are investing in these young peoples futures. I believe something like 43 states participate in this program. Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple is one of the Alumni of this group that was a student chosen for this trip.
We are now in our last full week of school, we get out the 25th!! I will post more of the end of the month!
