Here are some pictures and updates from mid-May through early June. So far we are enjoying our summer break!
Mother's Day 2017
Another milestone reached! Simon has enough fuzz on his face it was time for Dad to teach him how to shave!
End of the year Jazz band concert! They played some awesome songs!
Then over to the other side of the gym for the end of the year 8th-grade concert! He did great!
The Larson Family came to stop in for dinner on their way across the country! Caitlyn was Paige's Small group leader for the church in Beaufort NC. They are a Marine family and were on their way to their new station.
Thank you guys so much for stopping in! It was so wonderful to see you and we got lots of awesome hugs from Magnus, their son.
Nixon reached a milestone and has now moved on from Elementary school! Kind of shocking to see class of 2024, makes one feel a bit old lol! I won't say who ;)
We are so proud of you Nixon and how hard you have worked all through your Elementary school years!
Job well-done Buddy!
Schools Out!! Let summer begin! Simon also reached a milestone and completed his Middle school years! His school didn't do any program so I don't have pictures. Simon, you have grown and matured so much over these 3 years we are proud of your accomplishments and are so glad you are sticking with band! You have a natural talent!
Paige got the job she applied for at the local movie theater! This was her first day of work.
There is our baby driving off by herself for her first day of work! Sniff Sniff
Well, with Paige at work what else would we do but go to the driving range! Yay, Love Love Love going to the driving range.
Tim found a really neat place to check out for free in Memphis. It's called the Crystal Shrine Grotto. It's a cave type place made out of all kinds of rock and stone and has sculptures of the life of Jesus. It has a pond and walking paths around it. It is in the middle of a beautiful cemetery.
We took our first trip to New Orleans!
It was our anniversary weekend and we had a Coast Guard friend who was retiring and asked us to come down for his ceremony.
Jim the one retiring is on the left. The last time this group was together was in 1996, Kodiak Alaska. They are part of the final crew of the Yocona. That ship was like family and a lot of us have stayed in touch on and off over the last 20+ years. If we lose track of someone you can bet someone else knows where they are. They got a kick out of showing our kids some pictures of us from 23 years ago!
I sure love this guy!
Here come a few selfies because this group doesn't like to stop and take a family picture lol! So I decided to grab one at a time and take a pic!
He's looking older and about to pass me up. I bet this is the year!
He passed me up a few years ago!
See if I angle the phone and wear heals I look taller than Paige. In truth she has me beat by 2 inches!
On to New Orleans pictures
Cafe Beignet, one of the two beignet places in Nola that everyone has to go to! They were amazing and lived up to what everyone said they would! If you like powdered sugar beignets are covered and I mean covered in it!
Very cute place
All the architecture was awesome!
In front of Jackson Square which is where the Louisiana Purchase was signed.
Walking around the French Quarter
I have to give credit to Simon he snapped this photo!
This is across the square and is the St. Louis Cathedral
I took this in black and white and zoomed in so you couldn't see cars but just the buggies so it looked like and old picture. hmm ignore the guy in the background in modern clothes lol.
Inside was beautiful!
The second beignet place, Cafe Du Monde. I liked this one the best. It felt as if you were in France! Plus Paige just finished two years of French so she was our personal translator in the French Quarter!
Ok, this place has the most amazing coffee and I am craving it still!
This is in the French Market. Kinda reminds us of Pike Place in Seattle.
We couldn't leave without trying fried alligator. We all really liked it!
We had a blast exploring Nola and what it has to offer. This was our 23rd anniversary, 6-hour car ride home but that's okay we celebrated with a whole weekend of fun! Just like we have had 23 years of fun so far and many many more to come!
