Tim's Journal 3.0

Tim’s Journal 3.0
27Sep10

Well here I am again, without my family. Just doing the thing. I am in and have been in Pensacola Beach now for about two weeks. I am working in an old building on the Naval Air Station where the Blue angels are home ported and practice here, that’s pretty cool. Today is Monday and things are moving quickly to get this unit shut down by Friday. I am working all the angles and creating lots of paperwork to be faxed, scanned, mailed, e-mailed, duplicated, stapled, collated, shred, proofread, attached, and signed! Whew! Then sometimes, someone doesn’t like how it is written and you go back to the proverbial drawing board. Such is life and it makes us better right?
We have four large connex boxes to get rid of now that all the BP property that was inside it is finally gone. That was a large headache of red tape in and of itself. Those boxes are scheduled to be picked up on Wednesday. Then we have our two $100k engineering trailers that are chock full of the latest and greatest mechanical tools and electrical supply. Very neat trailers that becomes your workshop out in the field complete with work benches, Table saws, bench grinders, drill press, a full size lathe, every tool ever needed, air compressor for air tools, and most importantly, Air Conditioning! They are awesome! Those two are scheduled to be picked up tomorrow morning and sent back to Baltimore where the CG keeps them for times like these. We have two large forklifts that the company is going to come and get from us on Wednesday. At that point, all we will have left is our IT equipment such as laptops and printers. When we drive to Mobile, we will just hand carry all of them.
Since Angela’s mother went home a couple weeks ago it has been tough on Angela. It is never fun to come home to a house that is missing your buddy. Yes she of course has the children and that is super helpful although it is daunting to know that each day she has to wake up and do the whole day by herself without me to lend a hand. Especially once the kids go down at night and the house gets quiet is when I feel the worst for her. I cannot wait to get home and hold her. I am so proud of her and what she has gone through this past year. I will have been gone almost 7 months this past year with all my Coast Guard Travels and she has hung tough the whole time knowing that this is the job we chose. We all love each other so much and I miss little Nixon’s smile, Simon’s dimples, and Paige’s funny wits.
I don’t have a date to come home yet but I am doing what I can to make sure it is sooner rather than later. I will have a much better idea come the end of this week. My orders have me down here till the 19th of Oct so once this unit is closed down, they may move me to another one to close that one down… or I may slip through the cracks and get home earlier! (Please Lord)
Weather is nice here, still love Florida. Some really amazing thunder and lightning storms over the weekend. Thank you all for checking in and reading a little bit, comments are always welcome. See you all soon!

I wish Michigan needed you for awhile but you would have to bring your family too.

You guys are made of something special. 7 months is a long time to be separated from one another. Troy is in Kenya now, but that's only for a couple weeks this time. Scheduling activities gets really tricky with one parent, but more importantly its the "grown up time" that comes at the end of the day and peaking in the kiddos when they're asleep that seems to hurt the most when someone is missing. Our prayers continue to be with you. Lots of love... Jen

You are both so amazing. Chris has been gone every other week since May but only for 3-4 days at a time, and that's hard enough, I couldn't imagine all the months you guys have gone through. We continue to pray for you guys. Ang you should come "home" some weekend soon.
Love & Hugs,
Brook, Chris, D, & B-Bug :)
