Another tough post :-(
In loving Memory,
of our almost 18 years old cat,
Macey
Macey.... most of you probably know her as a mean kitty. Which she was a bit of a grumpy pants. But she fit well with our family and was good with our kids. Especially Paige. She was Paige's shadow especially the last few year. Tim and I got Macey 18 years ago when we got married. We had been in Alaska just a little while and with Tim gone on the ship and me alone the first thing we did was go to the vet where they had a litter of kittens for sale. They took them all out and let them run around and we picked one, a little boy. Then they put them all back in a cage together and the littlest one, the runt, was in the back and pushed her way through all the other kittens and paced back and forth meowing a tiny meow and rubbing her head on the cage as if to say pick me pick me. We looked at each other and then to the vet and said never mind we will take that one! So they put a mark with white out on her tail and said come back in a week when they can be taken from the mother and she is yours! And this is what we brought home......

Macey went on to move everywhere with us for the next 18 years (well a few months shy anyways). She flew on planes with and without us. Drove across country with us. Moved from state to state everywhere we did. She was with us for the births of our children. With each one she would sleep right up against my stomach. She never slept up against my stomach before then. That little cat was my sounding board and stress reliever! When I was all alone in Kodiak while Tim was on the boat for a month and I would sit on the couch and cry she would just stare at me like what the heck is the matter with you?! Back then she wouldn't even sleep with me. Night time was her play time. I would call her and try and get her to come in the room and all I would hear all night was the thumping of her little feet running all over our apartment.
As Paige grew up Macey went from sleeping with us at night to sleeping on Paige's bed. Then she would start out in Paige's room then end up in ours. Then the last year or so as she slowly declined she picked Paige as her closest buddy. Then a few days before she passed she started out in Paige's room and ended up with us. Kind of a sign of uh oh I think the end is coming. Also a red flag was a few months prior our friend Wayne came over and she let him pet her and didn't bat at him or hiss at all which was her normal greeting for Wayne. So we knew it was getting close. She was tough and a fighter and hung in til the end and went gracefully. Almost like she really didn't want to leave us and was hanging on for us. I knew she was tired and exhausted and in pain but she really tried not to show it and would still sit and purr especially with Tim and Paige.
Here are some fun photos of our fond memories of her! We miss you and love you Macey, I would love to pet your head and squish your little face and trace the M on your forehead one more time.

| She is 1 year old here (this is the apartment she would run around in all night as a kitten) |
| She is from Kodiak, Alaska this was her first time in the snow. Didn't like it much haha! |
| Here she is in our house in Petaluma, CA. She is probably about 2 or 2 1/2 years old. |
| This is her and I laying under our dining room table in Grand Haven Michigan. |
| All tuckered out and her cute fat little belly ( she got so skinny it went away when she got elderly) |
| Paige giving Macey a stocking one year. I think she kept that little scarf on her collar for a year or so before it finally fell off. |
| Yeah me tormenting her by putting the Christmas stocking ornaments from our tree on her feet. What they were just the right size?! yeah she didn't like it much! |
| We are homeschooling Paige this year and Macey is our mascot. This is where she spent each morning as soon as Paige would sit down for school Macey would hop us and sit right on her books and papers! It was hilarious she did it everyday! |
| Paige picked out Macey a costume for Halloween this year. |
This was just a couple days before she passed hanging out with Paige and her stuffed animals on Paige's bed. That is a good grumpy Macey look!

| This is Paige and her beloved kitty a day or so before she passed. |
Thanks for taking the time to look. We really miss our kitty. For the first time in 18 years we don't have a cat to pet. We will get a kitten once we move and get to GTMO. Won't be the same as Macey but a new chapter to start. Mae we will forever love you!
