| January 2013 Family Picture- Romance Cove |
| Our friends took us out on a boat to Hospital Kae (not sure if I spelled that right) It's one of the little islands here. Paige caught a star fish |
| Check out this star fish we found aren't they amazing and HUGE! |
| Kids playing and swimming |
| Tim went night fishing with our friend Ben and caught a white tip shark! Had to let it go you can't keep the white tip sharks :-( and he didn't get a pic :-( |
| Same friends took us to this beach by boat another day, Hicackle, probably spelled that wrong too. If there is a stick or a log anywhere Nixon will find it! |
| Simon got an award for perfect attendance for second quarter! |
| Paige got 2 awards for second quarter one for being on honor roll 2 quarters in a row and the other for being the only 7th grader to get a 4.0 second quarter! |
| Tim and I had doctor appointments in Feb. in Norfolk VA. We stayed a week and did some touristy things. This is Colonial Willamsburg |
| It was fun and we were freezing! It was like a little late Christmas for us walking around the old historical town. |
| We even got to see a horse drawn carriage and stopped at a bakery for some much needed hot cocoa! |
| Ate at one of our favorite places Cracker Barrel with a good ol game of checkers! |
| Paige got her hair done while we were in the states and opted for 2 pink stripes and a green one! Since then they have now faded to blond stripes which still looks cool. We figured why not she got a 4.0 let her express herself! She sure looks grown up and teenager huh? |
| This Flag was donated to and hung in the Goat Locker (The Chief's club). All the stripes are made up of the names of all who lost their lives in the Twin Towers. Pretty moving to look at close up and then to stop and think of who all is on this base. |
| This is the North East Gate! This is the gate into Cuba (that we can not use). It takes you right to the fence line and the only way to get to go here is to take the once a month tour or run a race that happens maybe a couple times a year. My Grandma and Aunt came for a visit so we took them on the tour! |
| Me and Grammy at the North East Gate |
It is a great tour and gives you the history of GTMO and the gate and Castro. You can feel the history just being there. The little building in the background was built to be a bank back when Cubans and Americans could freely go to either side. But Castro took power and the gate got locked down and closed and the building never got to function as a bank.
| Paige went to her first dance!! |
| Simon played basketball this year and was on the Sixers team! He did great and had awesome coaches. One of his coaches, she played college ball so she really taught them a lot and man did she have them working! He was in the oldest age group 10-13 year olds and he did great! Grammy and Renee were here for his first game which was fun. |
| Me and My Auntie Renee, she is so much fun! This is Windmill beach |
| Feb. 2013 Family Picture-Windmill Beach |
| Windmill Beach, we did a tour of almost all the beaches in one day! |
| Paige and her Great Grandma and Great Aunt (all taller than me LOL) |
| Girls being silly at Ferry Landing Beach! |
| The boys in the Banyan Tree. I love this tree it's huge and beautiful! |
| March 2013 Family Picture- North East Gate Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (can you tell I am trying to do a family photo once a month!) |
| This was the Dr. Seuss Fun Run. I dressed up for the occasion for fun. (it's really hot FYI to wear tights under workout pants and a felt hat in the tropics and try to run LOL) This is for the school and a big Thanks to the Marines for letting this take place and helping make it happen. They took us all up in busses and let us run along the fence line by the North East Gate! |
| It was a fun opportunity. This was the second annual run! |
| We even got a beautiful sunset as we were running. This is my friend and Neighbor (that's attached to us), Kristen, her husband is the one that Tim has gone night fishing with and they are the ones that have taken us out on the boats. They are an Army family and moving to Germany in June :-( |
| Tim and Nixon ran the entire mile together. Simon ran with his friends, Paige and I walked and ran part of it til her friends nabbed her then I finished with Kristen! |
| Ben and Kristen's best friend Pam was here for a visit and took her night fishing and took us too since I had never been. It was nice so peaceful out there at night. |
| Paige went to her second dance! She is so growing up way way too fast!! |
| Simon and Dad at the pool party for Simon's end of basketball party. |
| Mom and Paige hanging out by the pool. |
Well that brings us up to about March 16th. I had to fly to Oregon March 19th, my step Dad passed away on March 18th so I went home to help my Mom. I will explain it all in the next post soon.
Hope this finds you all doing well and I will post again soon. I have to do it more often it takes too long to upload a bunch of photos here. Honestly I started this one back in March before I left.

Hi Angie,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your step dad. Please tell your mom that I am thinking about her and keeping her in my prayers. Hope all is well otherwise. It looks like you guys are enjoying life in Cuba.
Love,
Kim
