Mid Nov. 2014 - March 2015

We hope all is going well and here is another over due blog update!

Christmas Time

Simon had his first band concert.  He plays the trumpet

He did great.  It was all holiday music and also their scales.

Santa Picture 2014.  Paige and Simon are "too old" according to them for pictures with Santa.

I think my newest favorite tradition we added this year was I wrapped up 25 Christmas/Winter themed  books and every night starting Dec. 1 we sat down as a family and read one book.  The boys took turns opening them and Tim,Simon and I took turns reading them.  It was so fun to just take time each day and enjoy a good old story no matter what age you are.  Nixon really loved it and looked forward to it each night.

Christmas Eve.  A new tradition we started 3 years ago was opening a family gift on Christmas Eve.  It usually has new PJ's, Popcorn, Hot Cocoa and mugs and marshmallows, and the movie ELF.

Leaving cookies and milk for Santa

As usual, cinnamon rolls for Christmas breakfast!

Santa came!!

Santa left Nixon a Gem mining kit and a snow globe with a sleigh bell. That's what happens when your child watches Santa Claus 3 and Polar Express right before making his List for Santa.  He asked for a snow globe and sleigh bell and Santa delivered!

Simon also got a Gem mining kit and a book.

Paige got a body pillow and cover for it.

The kitties of course enjoyed their stockings too, especially the cat nip!

Present Time

Having fun with the gifts we received

Paige and Tim got new running clothes and were off for a run in no time!

Playing Bounce Off, (one of the gifts Nixon got)

Relaxing enjoying legos

Happy New Year!  We stayed home for New Years Eve and rang in the new year together and watched the ball drop on TV.

On to Other Things...
Simon made Honor Roll again for second Quarter and we are proud of him for his hard work!

In Feb. Tim and Simon ran their first 5K.  Paige was supposed to also but she injured a tendon in her foot and is still in Physical Therapy for it and hasn't been given the go ahead to run yet.

And their off....Starting Line

Coming around the bend to the end!

Crossing the finish line at 29:40

They did great and had a blast together

Tucker letting Piper know..."that bed is mine too"
Simon advanced to yellow belt in Taekwondo

Off to an official Coast Guard dinner

Nixon dressed up as Big Nate for dress as a book character day at school. I thought we did pretty good since we had to come up with it the night before haha!

You know you are loved by your Big Sister when she stands on you while you are wrestling!

Simon was selected for the County Honors Band.  It included all 4 middle schools in our county and only a few from each school made it in and he was one of 2 trumpets out of about 14 in his class.  He was really hoping to achieve it and did.  I could tell he had his heart set on it and was worried he wouldn't get it, so when he came home with the letter saying he was picked he was so happy!

He did great!  They sounded awesome and he was second chair!! They put an amazing concert together in 1.5 days and had guest conductors come teach and lead them. They practiced 4 hours on Thursday and then from 9am-4pm on Friday (yes they got to miss the whole day of school for it) and then did the concert Friday night.

He also received a half off scholarship to a local band camp this summer for being selected for the County Honors Band.

On Saturday Tim just ran his second 5K and did great!
The kids and I were volunteers at the race and they placed us at the half way mark which was where they had to turn around and head back for the second leg of the run. Paige was with us (she took this picture).  She was supposed to run but still hasn't gotten the go ahead from the PT people to run yet. She is getting closer though!

Tim came in second place for Males in his age group and beat his own personal goal by 2 mins! They gave him a second place medal.
That brings us all the way up to yesterday!  Hope this finds you all doing well and sorry it took so long between updates.  I have no excuse like GTMO internet or anything but plain old procrastination on my part!  :)
