Jan.-March 2018

January brought some snow days!

Nixon enjoyed the snow!
Along with the snow came single digit temps that caused a pipe to burst in our house and created quite a mess! It was an exterior pipe running into our master closet then into the shower.  It flooded our closet, master bath and bedroom and a little into the hallway.

It was a bit of an ordeal that took way longer than it should have to get taken care of but finally, it was all done just in time to list the house.  The first contractor we hired wasted 6 weeks and did nothing.  So, we let them go and thankfully hired a great one who was done in 2 weeks!  Since we are about to sell the house we also had him paint the entire inside of the house.

Simon earned his letterman jacket!

Paige had Oscar Night at her school.  They only have 2 times a year for the kids to dress up.  Senior Oscar Night and Prom which will be in May.

Paige's future plans were changed by receiving the Provost Scholarship to the University of Memphis!

Her plan was to utilize the free 2 years of community college here.  That all changed when the University of Memphis reached out to her and offered her their Provost Scholarship.  Coupled with the Hope Scholarship which she gets through the state it covers almost all 4 years tuition.  She has applied for a few smaller scholarships that will hopefully cover the last remaining tuition amount and help with books and fees.  She still plans to live with our family friend so she won't have to pay for housing.

They also already accepted her into their Honors Program.

Simon had a Jazz Band concert.  We love watching him perform.

Ready for our 13-hour car ride! We got orders to Headquarters in Washington D.C.  The four of us spent spring break up in Stafford VA house hunting.

Exploring the area!

While there we had opening day for the Mariners!  I know no Chex mix and no Paige. BOO
At least the game was on ESPN so we got to watch it on the TV!!

We actually found our house our first day there!  We toured 9 houses that day and had 11 lined up for the next but this one we just knew when we went in.  We only looked at one more the next day and then re-toured this one. The best thing is there were only a couple zoned for the high school that was our first choice and this is one of them!

Now we have our house here listed for sale.

That brings things up to date!  Feel free to keep us in your prayers.  It's an emotional time.  PCS (moving) time is always hard and crazy.  Buying a house up there and trying to sell one here. This move will be an especially tough one.  It wasn't quite in our or Paige's plan for her to jump the nest this soon.  Our original plan was for her to live with us for college but the military life changed that.  Both boys, of course, don't want to move and start all over at new schools let alone all the goodbyes.  We have a busy next couple of months, to say the least! Our baby is graduating how crazy is that?!
