Jan - Mid March 2019

This post is January Through March 9, 2019

On December 21st Tim earned his Associates Degree and is now working on his Bachelor's degree.  So proud of him.  On top of all his work (and in Memphis doing 2 people's jobs), then the move to D.C. he has still managed to keep up with his classes.

Simon got his driving permit in early January! (a year late we know but the two different states and different requirements and drivers ED times we had to wait till we were here for a while.

First time driving with a permit!  Home from the DMV!

Another first in a long time!  I started working part-time in January for an online company called Avian Fashions!  Haven't worked in almost 19 years! I am learning a lot about birds. They sell veterinarian approved items for birds.  Some are just for fun fashion but most are so peoples pet birds can be around the house without their poop getting all over and also items for birds that pluck their feathers. My next door neighbor and friend works there and asked if I would be interested that they needed to hire someone and prefer to hire friends of their employees.

It is a company owned by a husband and wife who are both retired Navy.  They started the company 20 years ago and run it out of their basement.  We ship internationally and also sell some of our items on Amazon.  If you need something to do you can check out all we sell on Avianfashions.com.  I work in the office/customer service and shipping and also in the back with production, packaging, and inventory.  I am really enjoying it and it is a great group of people to work with!

We got snow a few times this year!  The boys always enjoy a reason not to have school!

Tim and I went for a walk out in the snow!

The boys enjoyed it!  It's nice even though they are getting older to watch them just be kids!

So much fun, had to take a break.

The cats preferred being in by the fire!

Tim and Simon started training in Jan. for a half marathon in March.

They did a great job training.

February

Sometimes it's just a Benny's night.  Our favorite pizza!

We spent a day at Massanutten Ski resort.  Tim skied and the boys tried snowboarding for the first time.

Making a plan and picking the runs!

They had a blast!

As for me.... I sat in the lodge did my Bible study, read a book and drank coffee!

Tim and I love to just head into D.C. and check out different areas.  This is China Town.

Never get tired of walking by the WhiteHouse!

This is the Eisenhower Executive Building.  (It's right next door to the White House.) And in my opinion, if taken in black and white at night can look at bit like something from a scary movie lol!

More of the White House.

Never get tired of the Washington Monument either!

Simon went with his band in Feb. to Disney World where they got to march on Main Street in the parade.

Dropping him off at school for his trip!

There they are marching in front of the castle!!  How cool is that?!  What a wonderful opportunity!  He had a great time and was in heaven with all the Star Wars stuff there!

We got to go to a Capitals hockey game!

It was a lot of fun!

Nixon and Dad swapping wheels out on a skateboard.

Tim caught this cool shot of Nixon practicing ollies.

March

Simon's Band Concert.  It was prepping for state assessments.  They did great and got superior!

Picking up race packets the night before the D.C. Rock N Roll Half Marathon.

The big day!  Taking the metro in the morning to the starting line.

Waiting near the starting line.

And they are ready and off!

Nixon and I walked along with them until their group got to take off!

This was the starting line.

Nixon and I had 3 miles to site see and walk to the finish line which was at JFK stadium.  Nixon learned how bad Mom is with directions and finally took my phone and showed me where we needed to go! LOL

We went by the National Archives.

The Capitol Building and we also went by the Supreme Court and Library of Congress.

This was our first time by the Capitol Building so this view of the Washington Monument was new for us! Then we continued our walk all the way through the Capitol Hill neighborhood to the stadium.

Tim and Simon ran all through the city!

Past all kinds of wonderful sites and neighborhoods of D.C.

They did it!  This was right after they came across the finish line.

Getting their after run grub!

They did great and had a blast! 2:50 was their time.

Hope this finds you all doing well!  I will post again soon!
