New Years and Grandparents visit

Thank you for the wonderful time Grandma and Grandpa!! We already miss you!

Happy New Year!!

We have been seeing the sights over the last couple of weeks! This place is rich in Colonial, Revolutionary, and Civil War history, Pirates and so much more. We hit many museums and other fun stuff!  I am such a nerd and love love love touring historic places!

Perfect beach day. Low 70's and no breeze and slightly overcast. This was at Fort Macon State Park beach. They even collected sea shells to take home!

The sun came out and it actually got almost too warm.

Then we went over and toured Fort Macon
Oh boy how much trouble can this group cause LOL ;)
Going through the museum part
Found a giant oven out in the fort
Big enough to fit boys in

The Beaufort Maritime Museum
This is the one that has all the Blackbeards items.

Tryon Palace in New Bern, NC
This took us all day and was an amazing time. Not only does it include a tour of the Palace and gardens, but also includes a tour of the Stanley House and the Dixon House.  It also has a building with the Pepsi family center which was an amazing interactive museum. What does that mean?  It was so cool!  You start by walking into a time machine and it opens to the 1830's where you help run a store, cook in the kitchen, make turpentine and navigate a ship. We all had a blast.  This building also included a history of NC geography and a toy through the ages exhibit.

In the Pepsi center making turpentine as a team! Each is given a station and job to do. Grandpa may have burned down the Forrest LOL!

Helping the 1830's store owner find things on a list for his customers.
Finding items for the cook!
The front of Tryon Palace
I didn't get pictures inside :(
(Grandma did on her camera)
The Stanly House (they didn't allow pictures inside) President George Washington slept in this house and attended a ball at the Palace.
The Dixon House

Really Beautiful Old Episcopal Church in downtown New Bern.
We don't know anyone who drinks more Pepsi than Grandpa, so we had to bring him to the birthplace of Pepsi. it is a historic location in downtown New Bern.  We thought Grandpa made up a Pepsi float but they actually serve them here!

Out at one of our docks

We ended their visit staying at a place in Atlantic Beach, they have this really cool outdoor bowling set up.
We went to the North Carolina Aquarium

Trout trout and more trout, where are our fishing poles lol.
Petting Sting Rays
And a shark
Crabby crabs!
The shark tank was awesome

This week the beach was way way colder than when we went the week before.
I think they got more shells this day than the other though. Grandma pinched Grandpa as I took the picture haha!

Our last night :(  thank you thank you Grandma and Grandpa!
